Please reach us at info@glastonburyskiphire.co.uk if you cannot find an answer to your question.
We usually hire skips for a maximum of 2 weeks. However, long term skip hire can be considered - there may be a rental charge.
There normally are not any additional costs when you order a skip with us. This depends based on have you explained the details to us. E.g., Contents of Skip, Location of skip etc. The main one is, failed deliveries or collections – if we send a vehicle out to drop off or collect a skip to your given address and they cannot complete the task, e.g., access issues or blocked driveway etc. This will incur additional costs. To avoid this, when you book the skip inform the member of staff of any issues that could occur. The driver will never give up easily, his first point of call will be to ring the contact number you have given upon any issues, so when booking make sure this is the best form of contact.
Another reason they may refuse to take the skip is due to overfilling. Overfilling the skip is more common than you think, on all of our skips they state ‘level fill only’ which is the line you should abide to, the reason for this is so that it can be transported safety with no threat to the public.
Lastly, we have listed prohibited items, hazardous waste etc. If these are seen by the driver on site, he can refuse the load until it is resolved. See more about what is not allowed in our skips below.
Although it would be an ideal world to accept everything. At this moment in time, we cannot accept certain wastes, this is due to our Environmental Permit. We will always advise you on how to dispose of these wastes even though we cannot take them. Please click here to see what you cannot put in our skips.
If you are worried about if we can accept the waste or not, it is always worth a call 01458 834300.
Cement Fibre Board has remarkably similar characteristics to asbestos. This is why when you are wanting to dispose of this, we ask you get it tested and send us over the certificate so that we can prove to the Environment Agency it is not asbestos.
The location of the skip is mainly down to you! We prefer to put the skip on an open driveway, but we ask that it is accessible for our lorries to deliver/collect. However, if you wish to put the skip on someone else’s land, we need permission from the landowner. You may wish to put the skip on the road or on council property, you will be required to obtain a permit for this. Please click here for more detail.
Unfortunately, we cannot place skips in fields or large gardens. This is because in bad weather conditions we may get stuck or misshape the ground, which could disappoint customers.
We always ask if customers could give us at least 2-3 days’ notice in a delivery or collection of a skip. This is so we do not let you down if we are busy. In some situations, we can offer next day, but this is not guaranteed.Add an answer to this item.
When you choose us to dispose of your waste, we will not let you down. 0% of our waste goes to landfill. When your skip gets tipped up in the yard, our team will sort it through so that it all gets broken down into the different wastes. For example, glass, PVC windows, carpets, plastics, electricals, mixed metals, green waste, soil & stone, wood (A grade + C grade) and plasterboard. Anything we cannot sort will go into the mixed waste bin, which gets taken to a large waste site which they have a high-tech picking conveyer belt which sorts it in more depth. The residule waste that cannot be recycled, will go for Regeneration which helps produce energy.
It’s all about Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.
Yes of course! If you do not want to hire a skip or do not have the room, we are able to offer a weighbridge service (Mon-Fri 9-4pm). All you need to do for this is apply for a waste carriers’ licence which, if it’s your own waste, is totally free! To apply click here, https://www.gov.uk/register-renew-waste-carrier-broker-dealer-england .If you used this method, the only cost you’d pay is how much waste you brought in, it’s all done on weight. However, there is some minimum charges.
We also can offer a wait and load services. This service will need to be booked at least 3 days in advance so that we do not disappoint you. It involves a driver and skip coming out to your house or site, placing the skip on the ground and you loading it within 20-30minutes. This option may be of use to you if you don’t have an offsite position to place the skip on, so you need it to be placed on the road (avoiding a permit), or you have the waste ready to be loaded onto the skip.
We are also going to be offering a house clearance (man with a van) service so keep your eyes peeled in 2023!
